Tirupur: A lone tusker male elephant (age about 35 years old) died on 29.08.2021 at Udumalaipettai Wildlife Sanctuary, Karatur Circle, Sadayampara Division Forest, Tirupur District.
In this connection, a team comprising forest officials, District Forest Officer Ganesh, Assistant Forest Ranger Ganeshram, Wildlife Officer Dhanapal, Forest Ranger, and Anti-poaching Guards, Government Forest Veterinarian Sukumar and Karatur Veterinarian Arvind inspected the spot.
An autopsy was conducted on August 30, on the disappearance of a single ivory of a dead elephant during an audit. An autopsy revealed that the ivory had been cut off after the elephant's death. Samples are being taken for analysis and further action is being taken. A special force led by an assistant forest ranger has been set up to track down the culprit.
