The WhatsApp number (+91-94875-70159) was released by the district administration 2 months before for public complaints in the Coimbatore district. The public were also eager to lodge complaints through this number. So far 878 complaints have been lodged under 22 departments namely Health, Revenue, Police and Local Government.

The maximum number of complaints was 142 to the health department, 136 to the revenue department, 135 to the rural development department, 86 to the police department and 70 to the municipal department. Of these, 511 complaints have been directly investigated and resolved and 367 complaints are under investigation, officials said.
Commenting on this, Collector Sameeran said, a committee headed by Social Security Project Officers has been set up to monitor complaints coming to the WhatsApp number. Officers receive complaints from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Complaints received will be registered in the District Grievance Portal and a text message will be sent to the persons concerned immediately stating that the petition has been accepted. The petitions are then transferred to the concerned departments and the study is advised to take further action.
WhatsApp number for complaints is well received by the public in Coimbatore. But this grievance number was announced only for the basic problems that find an immediate solution. There are also petitions for free patta and scholarships. Such petitions are under investigation as they cannot be resolved immediately.
