Municipality to remove waste dumped on roads in Valparai

Several tons of garbage was collected daily by municipality health workers and dumped in a garbage dump on the Stanmore Road area by vehicles.

Coimbatore:In the Valparai municipal area of Coimbatore district, several tons of garbage was collected daily by municipality health workers and dumped in a garbage dump on the Stanmore Road area by vehicles. Solid waste management project construction work has been underway by the Valparai Municipality at the Municipal Garbage Depot for the last few months. As a result, municipality employees dumped tons of rubbish on the side of the road in Valparai.

Due to this, the public going to Stanmore, Kurangumudi, Old Valparai, Varattuparai, Urulikkal and Sholayar Dam, Kerala suffered greatly. The stench from the waste dumped here has also affected visitors to the nearby Valparai Government College of Arts and Sciences court and residents of the nearby children's park and Gaggan Colony area.

The municipality was repeatedly asked to remove the waste dumped on the road by the public. On the orders of Valparai Municipality Commissioner Suresh Kumar, the municipality employees were engaged in the task of removing the waste dumped on Stanmore Road using JCB. Garbage dumped on the side of the road was completely removed. More meat waste was dug up and buried. The public thanked the Commissioner for the immediate action.
