The area had no functioning liquor shops for the past ten years
Coimbatore: Headed by ex-Panchayat head, Vellalore, Marudhachalam, the residents in Vellaloor lodged a complaint against the opening of TASMAC in their area.
The people in Vellalore have been residing in the area with no liquor shops for the past ten years. However, 2 TASMAC shops were set to be started in the region.

Almost 50 members gathered to meet the district Collector Sameeran and place a request to not bring TASMAC in their area. In case of failing, they stated that they were ready to go on strikes and protests until their needs are met.
Former ward councilor Tamilarasi said, “For the past 10 years, there has been no government liquor shop in the area. Hence we shall not allow to open one in the town. If the government opens liquor shops in the Vellalore area despite the opposition of the people, we will stage a massive agitation”
