Ration employees request 4G connection for Point Of Scale devices to avoid delay in Coimbatore

The device currently has 2G connections which they demand for an upgrade to 4G


Coimbatore: Essentials and beneficiaries are distributed to the public only after registering through the biometric device to the respective Ration cards.

This is done in view of curbing the smuggling of ration goods. There are 1,401 ration shops across Coimbatore district.

The elderly, patients are exempted from providing goodies in person if a proper certificate is issued from the Tahsildar.

However, the wait in the line for receiving the ration supplies as long as the connection they use is 2G.

In this regard, Rajendran, State President, Tamil Nadu Fair Price Shop Employees Association put forth a request, “To avoid the delay, ration employees have requested the government to provide with 4G connectivity for the ‘Point of Scale’ device.”
