VAO, who was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe, has been suspended.
Coimbatore: A Village Administrative Officer (VAO) who was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe in Coimbatore has been suspended. Kumar (48) who is the VAO in Vellanaipatti Panchayat, Annur taluk in Coimbatore district demanded a bribe of Rs. 3,500 from Balraj who needed to change his name in the patta. He was caught red-handed by the Anti-corruption Department while accepting a bribe from Balraj on Tuesday.
Police led by Divya, Additional Superintendent, Anti-Corruption Department obtained a confession from VAO Kumar at 11 pm on Wednesday night. He was produced at the Coimbatore court yesterday and remanded in Udumalai jail. His house in Ganapathy has also been raided.
VAO Coimbatore North RDO, Ravichandran has issued an order suspending Kumar.
