Coronavirus regulation violation: Authorities impose Rs. 10,000 fine at Podanur Chettipalayam


Coimbatore: Authorities have imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 for violation at a private car racing ground near Coimbatore.

Authorities are taking serious action to curb the spread of coronavirus in Coimbatore district. Private companies are also ordered to follow the guidelines.



It has been advised that large crowds should not be allowed in such public places and that the public must wear a mask and adhere to the social distance. The ELGI car racing track, popularly known as Kari Motorway is in the Orattukuppai area under the Chettipalayam municipality next to Coimbatore. Municipality officials were informed that a lot of people were gathering here for training.

District Panchayats Assistant Director Dwarakanath, Madukkarai Tashildar Nagaraj, District Panchayats Assistant Director Umadevi, Chettipalayam Executive Officer Jagadeesh and police investigated the matter. It was then revealed that there was a gathering in violation of those Coronavirus prevention rules by not following social distancing and not wearing face masks.

Authorities subsequently fined ELGI Carbon management Rs 10,000. Authorities have also warned that stern action will be taken if coronavirus prevention rules are violated.
