TNAU's Agro Climate Research Center has predicted that the city will receive moderate showers till August 24 and urged for nurseries to be set up during this time.
Coimbatore: Professor and Head of TNAU's Agro Climate Research Center, Dr. S P Ramanathan announced that Coimbatore was likely to receive showers for the next five days. The southwest monsoon in Tamil Nadu began last June, however, the monsoon in Coimbatore was delayed. Valparai and Pollachi received heavy rainfall but rainfall was low in urban areas.
Coimbatore is likely to receive moderate rains for the next five days till August 24. 'The sky will be overcast in Coimbatore from August 21 till August 24 and there is a chance of moderate rain for five days. Thunder showers will occur at a few places from August 22 to 24. The maximum temperature in the district is 32°C with winds of 15 to 20 kmph, with minimum temperature likely to be s will be 26°C,' stated Dr. S P Ramanathan. He also suggested that a nursery could be set up to cultivate paddy for the samba season, taking advantage of the rains.
