Coimbatore: Corporation Commissioner Raja Gopal Sunkara has ordered immediate payment of Rs 4.12 crore tax arrears of a popular hotel in Coimbatore.


Coimbatore: Corporation Commissioner Raja Gopal Sunkara has ordered immediate payment of Rs 4.12 crore tax arrears of a popular hotel in Coimbatore.

Radisson Blu operates an eight-storey hotel on the Coimbatore-Avinashi road near the Nava India bus stop. 2,06,695 sq.ft. building permit has been obtained for this hotel.

But, the building has been constructed for 2,20,363 sq.ft. The corporation officials revealed that the construction was done illegally. and said pre-2008 annual rental value was determined when the current annual rent was to be calculated . The hotel demanded that tax should be changed and the documents were re-examined by the Corporation Commissioner Rajagopal and the Revenue Division. It was determined that only for buildings built before 2008, the pre-2008 annual rental value can be determined. The commissioner rejected the request, saying the rule did not apply to new buildings.

Finally, the property tax payable from 2016-17 to 2021-22 is Rs. 4,04,76,589 rupees, vacancy tax, Rs. 7,68,745 rupees. Corporation Commissioner Rajagopal Sunkara ordered that in total, Rs. 4,12,45,334 rupees should be paid immediately.
