District Collector lauds Class 10 student who recited 50 Thirukkural in 3 minutes 10 seconds; Sivadharshini recited her way into the Indian Book of Records
Coimbatore: Sivadharshini, the daughter of Lingamurthy and Bala Maheshwari studies in Class 10 in a private school in Coimbatore. Sivadharshini who has been interested in Tamil from a very young age recited her way into the Indian Book of Records for reciting 50 couplets from 5 chapters of Thirukural in 3 minutes and 10 seconds.
Coimbatore District Collector, G S Sameeran personally called Sivadharshini and her family to congratulate her on her feat. "I have always wanted to achieve something in Tamil from an early age. I was trained to quickly recite 50 Thirukkural. Although I could have done it in 2 minutes and 30 seconds, in Tamil it is important to have clarity and pronunciation, and so I recited the 50 couplets in 3 minutes and 10 seconds, which got my name into the Indian Book of Records," exulted Sivadharshini.
The exuberant student revealed that her next goal would be to recite the 1,330 couplets in Thirukural within an hour.
