Collector orders to arrest two under Goondas Law for rice smuggling in Pollachi

Coimbatore: Smuggling and sale of free goods and ration rice provided on behalf of the TN government was a continuous act for a long time.


Coimbatore: Smuggling and sale of free goods and ration rice provided on behalf of the TN government was a continuous act for a long time. The good were smuggled to Kerala, from Pollachi, Aanaimalai and the surrounding areas.

Around 17 tons of ration rice hoarded in the godown in Thipampatty, Pollachi was seized last month by the IT department. Muhammad Toufiq (23), Pollachi and Gnanaprakash(22) of Aanaimalai were arrested and put in central jail.

The Police department had raised a request to file cases under Gundas on the arrested which was approved by District collector Sameeran after a thorough investigation. The case was filed under gundas law todayand the culprits were put in Central jail.
