Case filed against Hindu Munnani leaders including Congress leader Mayura Jayakumar for violating ban in Coimbatore


Coimbatore: Mayura Jayakumar is the Acting President of the Congress Party during the Independence Day celebrations in Coimbatore.

He led a procession from the railway station and burst fireworks. Similarly, members of the Hindu Munnani marched in the Gandhipuram area performing programs. The case has been registered under 3 sections including violation of curfew under the Prevention of Infectious Diseases Prevention Act. Police have registered a case against 109 members of the Congress and Hindu Munnani who took part in the Coimbatore Independence Day procession.

The 75th Independence Day of the country was celebrated enthusiastically across the country. Similarly, Independence Day was celebrated in Coimbatore on behalf of various parties and organizations. On behalf of the then Congress party, Mayura Jayakumar, the Executive Chairman of the Congress Party, led the Independence Day procession from the South Taluk office to Kamaraj Bhavan and burst fireworks.

Racecourse police have registered a case against 17 people, including Mayura Jayakumar, under three sections of the Prevention of Infectious Diseases Act, including curfew, for marching without proper permission while the curfew was in force. Similarly, in the Ramanathapuram, Ratnapuri area on behalf of the Hindu Munnani the procession was held on Independence Day and in areas including Selvapuram and Gandhipuram.

Hindu Munnani pokesperson Dhanapal and executives Karthik Vignesh said the meeting was held without proper permission. Police have registered a case against 92 people, including Kathirvelu, under three sections of the Infectious Diseases Prevention Act. Police have registered a case against 150 members of the Congress and the Hindu Munnani.
