Coimbatore: Hindu organizations filed a petition at the District Collectorate on Yesterday seeking the removal of unauthorized party flagpoles in Pollachi's Kumaran Nagar. Two days ago, there was a clash between two groups when the Vishwa Hindu Parishad tried to hoist a flag.
The Coimbatore District Superintendent of Police, S Selvanagarathinam and Pollachi Sub-Collector Thakare Shubham Dnyandeorao intervened to negotiate between the two groups and removed the flagpoles.
Hindu outfits comprising the Hindu Munnani and the Vishwa Hindu Parishad laid siege to the Pollachi Sub-Collectorate and demanded the removal of all unauthorized flagpoles and banners placed in Pollachi. They dispersed only after the Pollachi Sub-Collector assured them that appropriate action would be taken.
