Coimbatore: The Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting and former BJP President of the State, L Murugan inaugurated the Jan Ashirwad Yatra in Coimbatore on Monday in an effort to promote the BJP government's plans to the people.

Addressing the media at Coimbatore as part of the Jan Ashirwad Yatra, the Minister explained that the Yatra would cover the districts of Coimbatore, Erode, Tiruppur, Namakkal and Salem in three days.
As part of this, BJP party leaders will meet the people and describe the schemes and projects of the Central Government.
Following the inauguration, the Miister addressed the people saying, "I was born into the Arunthathiyar community, and Prime Minister, Narendra Modi made me a Deputy Minister. I am from a cobbler family and I was made the head of state by the BJP and no other party in Tamil Nadu has done this. They placed their trust in me and appointed someone from a poor family. But the Communist Party and Congress tried to stop it. The Central Government has implemented a housing scheme for all and a toilet scheme for every household. 8 crore people have been given free gas connection. Not a single farmer has committed suicide since 2014. Rs.6000 per year is paid into the bank accounts of the farmers. Ayushman Bharat has given a free insurance scheme worth Rs. 5 lakh.
The Prime Minister believes in social justice and hence the Union Cabinet consists of 12 ministers from downtrodden communities, 8 ministers from tribal communities and 28 ministers from backward communities. This pilgrimage is being conducted to receive blessings from the people for the welfare schemes," detailed the Minister.
BJP State President, Annamalai was among those present at the inauguration of the Yatra.
Earlier, Union Minister L Murugan was welcomed with great fervour at the airport gate by a group of BJP students.
