75th Independence day celebrated at Income Tax office: Coimbatore records Rs 5,000 crore tax collection in 2021- IT Chief Commissioner

75th Independence day was  celebrated with fervour at Coimbatore  Income Tax office, today. Post the event, IT Chief Commissioner stated that Coimbatore has recorded tax collection of Rs 5,000 crore for the year 2021.

While, the Chief Commissioner of Income Tax of Coimbatore, M.Bhupal Reddy, IRS, presided over the function, SSN.Moorthy, Ex Chairman, CBDT, was the chief guest for the event.

During his speech the ex-chairman thanked all tax payers and noted that the target for tax collection is nearly Rs 11 lakh crore for this year.



"Earlier, the Income tax department was the only depertment contributing towards the revenue for the government. Due to faceless assessment scheme introduced by the Central Government to provide greater transparency, efficiency and accountability in Income Tax assessments, it is not possible tointerract with the Assessing Officer.All the officials in the IT department are very cordial and well-behaved", commended A. Sakthivel, Chairman of Apparel Export Promotion Council.



Meanwhile, the Chief Commissioner of Income tax revealed that the tax collection in Coimbatore has touched close to Rs.5,000 crore for 2020-21. Several tax payers come forward to pay their taxes duly, he noted.
