Coronavirus infection rate in Coimbatore has reduced to 36.72 percent.
Coimbatore: While Coimbatore continues to report slight increase infresh Covid-19 cases, on a daily basis, official reports confirm that Covid cases within corporation limits have drastically decreased, while a slight increase has been seen across rural areas of the district.
Compared to previous Covid wave, where most of the positive cases -- 70-75% were within Corporation limits,cases have now begun to decline and rural areas have been witnessing a slight surge. The infection rate in Coimbatore has come down to 36.72 per cent, according to district officials.
Due to district administration's intense monitoring, the infection rate which was over 40% in corporation limits has gradually come down to 36.72% over the past two weeks. Close to 5000 staff have been employed to conduct door-to-door fever checks across the corporation limits which has helped to reduce infection rate, say officials.
The following are the infection rates at rural areas -- 7.48 per cent in Karamadai, 10.42 per cent in Thudiyalur, 5.80 per cent in Sulur, 5.63 per cent in Anaimalai and 5.21 per cent in Madukkarai. The district administration and health department have intensified the monitoring at these areas to avoid clusters.
