Coimbatore: The number of burglary cases in Coimbatore is increasing day by day. Thieves broke into a mutton stall shopkeeper's house in Singanallur area of Coimbatore and looted Rs 3 lakh cash and 40 sovereigns jewellery from his house.
Police say, 'Unidentified men broke into a house and looted 40-sovereign jewellery and Rs 3 lakh cash. Suresh Kumar is from Nandha Nagar in the Singanallur area of Coimbatore. He had gone to Erode with his family for a special occasion at his relative's house a few days ago. The neighbors informed him that the lock of his house was broken Aug 12 evening. Following this, Suresh Kumar from Erode informed the Singanallur police about this. The police went to the spot and Sureshkumar told police that he had 40 sovereigns of jewellery and Rs 3 lakh in cash in the wardrobe. When the police searched the house, it was revealed that the jewellery and money he had said had been stolen.
Police have registered a case and are also using surveillance camera recordings in the area. The people of the area are in fear due to the ongoing theft incident.
