Coimbatore: As a precautionary measure against the Coronavirus 3rd wave, the elder care homes are being monitored daily for flu check-ups at old age homes under the Social Welfare Department in Coimbatore district. There are more than 30 Retirement Homes functioning under the Social Welfare Department in various parts of Coimbatore district. There are 819 nursing homes in these nursing homes. Most of these homes are occupied by homeless elderly people who have been abandoned by their son, daughter, relatives, etc., and are living alone.
Awareness on coronavirus is being created for the elderly in 30 old age homes under the Social Welfare Department in the district as a precautionary measure against coronavirus 3rd wave prevention. They also have daily temperature tests to see if they have the flu.
A Social Welfare official said, 'Authorities are going directly to nursing homes to raise awareness about the coronavirus among the elderly. Vitamin tablets such as Zinc are given as prescribed by a doctor to test for fever and boost immunity. Retirement homes are also monitored daily by the WhatsApp Group. The group will visit nursing homes and report on preventive measures and flu tests.'
