BJP Weavers' Division urges for commission to regulate textile industry at Dist. Executive Committee Meeting


Coimbatore: Coimbatore South District BJP Weavers' Section's 'National Weavers' Day' Celebration and the District Executive Committee Meeting was held on Wednesday evening at a private hall in Kinathukadavu, near the Coimbatore Road check post. The meeting was chaired by Arul Chandrasekhar, District Weavers' Division Chairman and was attended by executives and members of the Southern District Weavers' Division.



Earlier, on National Weavers' Day which was celebrated on August 7 every year, weavers were honored with gold-wrapped sweets. "A separate co-operative society should be set up to provide the Centre's benefits to handloom and power loom workers. A geo-code for sari and silk varieties produced by weavers must be provided. The Commission should be set up to regulate the textile industry by fixing a uniform price that does not increase or decrease the price of yarn," urged the weavers.



Resolutions were passed at the meeting to provide pension to senior handloom weavers. State Weavers' Division Secretary Narayanan, District BJP Leader Vasantha Rajan, Ponilango, Ganesamurthy, Regional Leader Krishnasami, Regional Weavers Division Leader Arunkumar, district and regional administrators along with weavers were present.
