More than 3,000 liquor bottles illegally stored in bars confiscated: Six people including owners arrested

Tirupur: In Tirupur district, government liquor stores have been allowed to operate only from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., following new restrictions imposed due to the spread of coronavirus infection.

There was a complaint that liquor was being stockpiled and sold in various areas for sale above 5 p.m. Following this, Tirupur District Tasmac Manager Soundarapandian, Assistant Commissioner of Excise Sukumar and Anupparpalayam police inspected various places.



During the search, police found two liquor stores opposite the Tirupur Gandhinagar area and at Koolipalayam Road, where boxes of liquor were being stockpiled and sold at exorbitant prices. Following this, about 3,500 bottles of liquor worth Rs 5 lakh were seized. In this connection, the Anupparpalayam police registered a case against Mahalingam, Dhanapal and 6 others, including the owners of the liquor store and 4 persons who worked in their liquor store.
