The public in Coimbatore district is eagerly getting their jab against coronavirus vaccine. Vaccinations are being given from time to time in rural and municipal areas to ensure the availability of vaccines. Covaxin dose 2 was administered yesterday in the Corporation area. To this end, a notice was issued at 8 a.m. and tokens were distributed to the public at 9 p.m. This was followed by a public vaccination drive starting at 10 a.m.
Accordingly, 2,500 people were vaccinated at the rate of 250 each in 10 centers including Kavundampalayam, Ramanathapuram and Ganapathy. Previously, those who came for the first dose of Covaxin were not vaccinated and they were sent back.
Similarly, in Coimbatore district yesterday, 8,450 people were vaccinated at 45 places including Karamadai, Annur, Periyanaickenpalayam, Thondamuthur, Madukkarai and Sulur. In this, the general public wore face masks and stood in long queues and observed social distancing while getting vaccinated.
