Coimbatore: A petition was made on behalf of Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) at the Pollachi Collectorate to conduct Grama Sabha meetings on August 15 at all Panchayats.
The petition was filed today on behalf of the Adi Dravidar Welfare Wing of the Coimbatore South East District of MNM at the Pollachi Collectorate. The petition urged Pollachi Collector, Thakare Shubham Dnyandeorao to make a formal call to the public seven days prior to holding the Grama Sabha meetings.
The petition also urged that important documents including panchayat budget, expenditure statement, bank account books, audit report to be presented to the Village Council should be made available to villagers, and requests made by people in the interest of the village should be duly recorded as resolutions. They also added that the final copy should be made available to the public.
"We need to create awareness among the public about the importance of Grama Sabha meetings," reiterated the petition.
