Police are investigating the recovery of a dead body of a North Indian worker in a forest near Madukkarai, Coimbatore.
Coimbatore: The body of a North Indian youth was found with injuries in the forest area near a private company yesterday morning on the way to Otthakkalmandapam from Madukkarai Bodipalayam in Coimbatore district. Police rushed to the spot, seized the body and are investigating. Ashikumar (age 21) is from Bihar. He was working as a laborer in a private shoe company in the Chirapalayam area next to Madukkarai in Coimbatore.
Other state workers who worked for the company moved to their hometowns last March due to the spread of coronavirus disease. Then Ashikumar went to his hometown and then left Bihar again on the 19th and returned to Coimbatore. He went to work for the company as usual. It seems he has been going to work for the company for the last 3 days. Those who went to the forest area behind the private college yesterday morning informed the Madukkarai police that there was a body.
Police rushed to the scene and conducted an investigation. It was revealed that the deceased was Ashikumar, who worked for a shoe company. Also, a waist belt was found at the place where Ashikumar died. Police later recovered his body and sent it to a government hospital for autopsy.
Madukkarai police have registered a case and are investigating whether Ashikumar was killed.
