The disabled who besieged the Pollachi railway station demanding to provide concessions to the disabled in the trains ..!
Coimbatore: A protest was held yesterday by the Pollachi Disabled Welfare Association members who laid siege to the Pollachi railway station, emphasizing various demands including the need to attach extra carriages for the differently-abled on trains. Slogans were raised at the railway station urging the Central Government to immediately provide the denied benefits to the differently-abled.

They demanded that the escalator should be made convenient for the disabled to get on and off the trains and the platform fare should be reduced for them as in Pondicherry and Chandigarh, and also that petrol subsidy should be provided to the disabled. "India must implement all the resolutions agreed upon by the UN for the differently-abled. Documents including booking receipts at Pollachi Railway Station are presently in Malayalam and English. We want it in Tamil," urged the differently-abled.
