Heavy showers are likely at one or two places in the Nilgiris, Coimbatore and Theni districts on August 12 and thundershowers at two places in Nilgiris, Dharmapuri, Tirupati, Salem, Cuddalore, Villupuram and Delta districts. In Chennai, the sky will be partly cloudy for the next 24 hours. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning are expected in a few parts of the city.
Strong winds will blow over the Gulf of Mannar, southwestern Bay of Bengal, southeastern Sri Lanka, southeastern Arabian Sea, Kerala coast, Lakshadweep, southwestern and central Arabian Sea, Central West and North Arabian Sea till August 13. Fishermen have been advised not to go into the sea for fishing as winds can reach speeds of 50 to 60 kmph and even 70-kmph.
