Pledge taken to eliminate Child Labour under the leadership of Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner
Coimbatore: International Child Labour Day is observed every year on June 12. To mark the occasion, a function was held today under the chairmanship of P Kumaravel Pandian, the Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner, at the Victoria Hall premises at the Coimbatore Corporation Headquarters.

“According to the provisions of the Constitution of India, education is a fundamental right of children and I will never involve children under the age of 14 in any activity. I will encourage them to go to school. I will create awareness in the society to eradicate child labour completely. I assure you that I will do my best to make Tamil Nadu a child labour-free state," stated the pledge which was taken by all under the leadership of the Corporation Commissioner.
The event was attended by the Deputy Corporation Commissioner S Madhuranthagi, Municipal Engineer A Lakshmanan, Urban Health Officer Dr. Raja, Assistant Commissioners, officials and staff.
