Coimbatore National Model Senior Secondary School student participates in a discussion with Prime Minister Modi on the cancellation of CBSE Class 12 public examination.
Coimbatore: The Central Government has recently announced the cancellation of the CBSE Class 12 general examination at a time of uncertainty due to the spread of coronavirus infection across the country.
The Central Department of Education and the CBSE Board have jointly organized a 3-day video conference to ask students and parents for their views on this. Prime Minister Modi abruptly participated in the discussion and discussed with the students. Students expressed their various opinions about his decision regarding the +2 exam. About 38 students from all over India participated in the live event. One of them was National Model Senior Secondary School student Chitrakar Debrak who participated and discussed with Prime Minister Modi.
Commenting on the experience he said Prime Minister Modi said that the health and safety of students was paramount in this period of coronavirus. He then asked the students for their opinion on the cancellation of the Class 12 general examination. He also said he had discussed the matter with his parents.
Student said, "When my turn came in that discussion, when I told the Prime Minister that I was expecting the public election to be canceled. Right now my whole focus is on competitive exams. I said I was preparing myself for that. He also said that the cancellation of this general election was the right decision."
Academics across the country have welcomed the Prime Minister's announcement of the cancellation of the public examination. Dr. Geetha Lakshman, Principal, National Model Senior Secondary School, said that the lives of students are more important than the score of the public examination. Due to the extraordinary environment in which the pandemic has spread across the country, the confusion that existed between teachers, students and parents regarding the date of the public examination and the problem in getting students to take the exam and the teachers correcting it has now come to an end.
