People fear due to increase in leopard movement in Valparai
Coimbatore: The Anaimalai Tiger Reserve in Valparai, Coimbatore district is home to a large number of wildlife such as leopard, bear, elephant, bison and so on. Leopards have been spotted several times in Kamaraj Nagar, Gaggan Colony Children's Park Vazhaithottam and in Anna Nagar Tulsinga Nagar area in Valparai. Poultry, sheep, cows and dogs raised by people are being hunted down by these leopards.

For the past one month cages have been placed in the Vazhaithottam and Nallakathu area to catch the leopard. Leopards still roam freely without being caught. People were frightened today to see a leopard climbing a tree during the day at the Savarangadu tea estate near Kamaraj Nagar. The increase in the number of leopards in the city around Valparai has caused fear and panic among the people.
