The Tamil Nadu Government had ordered for the State to be under complete curfew to curb the deadly spread of Covid-19 and announced that public could step out of their homes only at stipulated times for emergencies during the entire curfew period.

Police patrolled the areas of the old bus station and imposed fines on those who wandered out in vehicles unnecessarily, in blatant violation of curfew restrictions during the day.
