Industries in Coimbatore step forward to support children who have been orphaned due to Covid-19
Coimbatore: Even as the Coronavirus pandemic seems to be sweeping across India, lakhs of people have been ravaged irrespective of whether they are elderly or children. Thousands of people have lost loved ones and their livelihoods.
Priya Devi, District Child Protection Officer in Erode revealed that children who have been orphaned owing to this deadly pandemic are struggling to cope with the harsh reality.
Ravi Sam, Managing Director of Adwaith Lakshmi Industries and CII Chairman of Corporate Social Responsibility of Southern region felt that everyone stretching out their hands to help is a social responsibility. "When we are providing a touch stone for someone during this time, it is one of the best ways to be of service. 200 children in the home are generously supported for and provided with rich protein food.
More than 15 products in a package which may be helpful for a period of one month are regularly being provided by Adwaith Textiles Private Limited and Titan Paints Pvt Ltd," detailed Ravi Sam.
Sundar, District Child Protection Officer has also revealed that children who lost their parents are indeed struggling. "As per the request of the District Child Protection Officer, six children from Coimbatore whose parents were admitted for Covid-19 are being supported by Lakshmi Ring Travellers Pvt. Ltd and provided with packages of basic needs for a month's time. We are planning to donate to six more children from Coimbatore," he added.
