Rotary Clubs of Coimbatore launch 'Project Sanjeev' to contribute to Covid-19 relief and preventive initiatives
Coimbatore: All the Rotary Clubs of Coimbatore have joined hands in a noble initiative called 'Project Sanjeevani' to help people fight against Covid-19.
District Director, R S Maruthi said, "All 41 Rotary Clubs of Coimbatore Region (G41) always strive hard to solve real problems with commitment and vision. The second wave of Covid-19 which has swept the world, and is now devastating Coimbatore district has shaken the lives of many, which is unbearable. We came to know about the seriousness of this pandemic through Rtn. Dr. Bala Venkat, a renowned doctor in Coimbatore and a committed Rotarian who understands the requirements of hospitals to combat the pandemic. He is guiding us and hence we were able to initiate a project called 'Sanjeevani.'
Our District Community Chairman Rtn. P P Lakshmanan has coordinated to launch 'Sanjeevani' and guides all our activities. ‘Project Sanjeevani’ is categorized into three verticals. ‘Vertical 1’ covers the Vaccination program for Rotarians and their families headed by Rtn. Rajesh Nandha, President, Rotary Smart City. ‘Vertical 2’ focuses on public awareness which includes all the social media activities headed by Rtn Jaykrishnan, President, Rotary Uptown. ‘Vertical 3’ deals with providing medical equipment like oxygen-generating machines to Government Hospital, ESI and PHCs headed by Rtn. T Mani, President of Rotary, Coimbatore and Coordinated by District Director Rtn. R.S.Maruti of RotaryTexcity.
Through donations received from many kind-hearted Rotarians, their families and friends, we are providing approximately Rs. 9 crore-worth medical equipment assistance to the public. Ron. Vivekananda, CEO of Faraday Ozone Products Pvt. Ltd provided a big boost by supplying oxygen concentrators only for us by dropping all his foreign orders.

All 41 Rotary Clubs under the zone 1 of Dist have offered oxygen concentrators to Coimbatore Government Hospital as well as Coimbatore ESI for 40 beds each with 5 years of guaranteed maintenance. In addition, Rotary Downtown has provided 10 lakhs worth PPE kits to Coimbatore GH. Rotary Spectrum has provided 20-bed oxygen concentrators for Coimbatore GH with the support of Baker & Hughes and with Tzuchi foundation,Taiwan in association with ESS EMM Corporation Coimbatore are donating 400 oxygen concentrators to Tamil Nadu Medical Services Corporation.
ZF Wind Power Coimbatore PvtLtd, has sponsored 2 Oxygen Generators for a capacity of 80 beds at ESI Hospital Coimbatore which was coordinated by Ron. V Surendran of Rotary Cybercity.

Rotary East headed by Rtn. Sanjeevi Kumar has provided 6 oxygen concentrators for 20 beds each to Coimbatore GH in association with Karur Vysya Bank, CIT 1975 Alumni batch along with friends and relatives; Udumalpet GH in association with Suguna Foods; ESI hospital Coimbatore in association with Craftsman Automation; Palani GH in association with Rotary Palani, AUTOTEXCoimbatore and Suguna foods; Krishnagiri GH fully funded by Dr. Adhinarayanan and Rasipuram GH in association with Vishvek Charitable Trust.
RC East is also working on the needs of Dharapuram GH, Vellore GH, Namakkal GH, Palladam GH and Pollachi GH. Rotary Satellite is providing 72 ICU high pressure oxygen cylinders in association with Aqua Sub Engineering. Rotary Saicity has planned to provide 50-lakh worth Oxygen concentrators to Ooty GH in association with Coromandel Fertilizers.
Additionally we have provided 3.5 lakhs worth medical support to Coimbatore GH. Rotary Texcity is planning to provide a high pressure concentrator worth Rs. 1 crore which will cater to 100 beds to Coimbatore ESI Hospital shortly. Rotary Midtown headed by District Governor Elect Rtn.Rajsekar planned to provide 20 beds oxygen concentrators for Coimbatore GH and create an oxygen concentrator bank of 30 units which is planned to be donated to primary health centers in the future. Janatics industries has provided 10 portable high pressure concentrators to ESI Hospital. 12 water purifiers have been provided by past AGs to Coimbatore ESI coordinated by Rtn Gurudeep Singh Anand.

Under Project Sanjeevani, Sakthi Sugars has provided 20 beds of oxygen concentrators to Coimbatore ESI. In total, Rotary Clubs of Coimbatore Region will be providing 180 beds oxygen assistance to Coimbatore Government Hospital and 260 beds oxygen assistance to Coimbatore ESI Hospital and we are trying our best for other districts as well.
Rotary Uptown, D'elite and Green City are donating an ECMO machine worth Rs. 40,00,000. This is the first ECMO machine to be installed in a Government Hospital in Tamilnadu. Under the guidance of Rtn. Dr. Sathish, President, Rotary Meridian, a blood donation campaign is being held at Chennai, Bangalore and Coimbatore in order to encourage people to donate blood before Covid-19 vaccination as an individual cannot donate blood for 15 days from the day of vaccination.
We have created a ‘ROTARY WAR ROOM’ headed by DRR Rtr. Janani guided by Rtn Suresh of Rotary Zenith in order to provide details to the public regarding Rotary activities and services. All these activities were mentored and guided by our Rotary District Governor Rtn Jose Chacko and ably supported by all the seven Assistant Governors of zone1. As per Rotary's motto ‘Service Above Self,’ we are working hard to help the public in this pandemic situation.”
