Garbage Separation Work into bio - degradable waste and non bio - degradable waste under the Green India project is in progress.
Coimbatore: Public who reside in the Valparai residential areas got into an argument with the municipality officials after garbage was dumped at a waste disposal site near the area. Area public also urged the officials to remove the waste disposal site from the area.
In the Valparai area of Coimbatore district there are areas like Anna Nagar, Kamaraj Nagar, MGR Nagar, Kalaingar Nagar and Tulsing Nagar where municipal employees usually pick up waste in the morning and dump it in the garbage disposal site in the children's park area.
This dumping of waste attracts flies, mosquitoes and also gives away bad stench during rains.This affects public health and also increases the chances of people being infected.
Meanwhile the public near the children's park today stopped the municipality truck which carried the waste to the dumping site. The public got into an argument with the authorities.
On hearing about this incident, police officials and Valparai Tahsildar arrived at the scene and assured the public that the waste collected will be dumped properly. The officials then urged the people to dissolve the protest.
