At around midnight on May 14th, about 8 cottages were damaged when trees fell there in a hurricane.
Coimbatore: The Forest Department has provided relief assistance of Rs 40,000 to the tribals affected by the storm in Azhiyar near Pollachi.
About 30 tribal families live in the Chinnarpathy hill station near Azhiyar, which is part of the Pollachi Wildlife Sanctuary. At around midnight on May 14th, about 8 cottages were damaged when trees fell there in a hurricane.
Following this, the forest department went to the affected area and removed the fallen tree branches and gave shelter to the affected hill people in a hall near Azhiyar and provided them with essential items.
In this context, on the orders of Anwardeen, Additional Chief Ranger of Anamalai Tiger Reserve and Anamalai Tiger Reserve Director Arokiyaraj Xavier a relief fund of Rs 40,000 was given to tribal people by giving Rs 5,000 to each family.
