Coimbatore: About a dozen children whose parents are members of Coimbatore City Round Table 31 and Coimbatore City Ladies Circle 16 have collected and contributed funds for purchasing a modular oxygen system equipment that will be installed at one of the city-based Government hospitals in a few weeks from now.

In the time of crises several heart warming stories have emerged. But this gesture courtesy a group of Twinklers has caught our attention. As per protocol, children whose parents are members of Coimbatore City Round Table 31 and Coimbatore City Ladies Circle 16 automatically become a Twinkler.

A group of 10 to 15 school going boys and girls who are all under the age of 16, from the textile city have raised and contributes funds to purchase an oxygen system equipment that will be installed at one of the government hospitals in the city soon. The initiative was spearheaded by Parth Gupta, grade 12 student of The Indian Public School. Speaking to SimpliCity, young Parth said “As Twinklers we take up a project a year. Moved by how the city-based Government hospitals are struggling to serve the needy, we decided to pitch in.”

The Coimbatore City Round Table 31 and Coimbatore City Ladies Circle 16 had already decided to raise funds, source and install an oxygen system equipment at one of the Government-run hospitals here. The group of Twinklers under the leadership of young Parth have contributed a sum of two-lakh rupees for the project that costs rupees 26-Lakhs. Parth and team turned to online crowd funding platform Ketto to raise funds. The virtual fundraising campaign was initiated on 10 May with the goal to raise a sun of rupees two-lakhs. Within six houses of the campaign being live, the campaign goal was met. The funds raised were handed over to the Coimbatore City Round Table 31 and Coimbatore City Ladies Circle 16 and the process to source the designated oxygen system equipment was subsequently initiated. The same will be installed at the government hospital in the days to come. The oxygen equipment is capable of serving 20 patients with five liters/minute (L/min). Patients at the government hospital where the respective equipment is all set to be installed can now heave a sigh of relief.

Despite the campaign goal of collecting the stipulated funds was achieved, team Parth did not stop with just that. He tells us that in a day, funds to a tune of rupees-five lakhs were collected and as of this writing, through the virtual campaign the team has raised a sum of rupees 6.50-lakhs. A part of the funds will be used to purchase equipment and accessories for the health care workers of the city-based government hospital. The rest of the money that we have collected will be used to support the hospital as per its need.” Parth tells SimpliCity.

With the pandemic showing no signs of slowing down the young Twinklers will in the months to come support in cash and in kind, the city-based government hospital through their various initiatives.
