Giant tree fell due to heavy rain and caused traffic congestion in Valparai
Coimbatore: Valparai in Coimbatore district has been receiving heavy rains for the last four days. Due to this, trees have uprooted in various places and the electricity and telecommunication services have been affected.
A giant tree fell across the main road of the Savarangadu tea estate adjacent to the town of Valparai and traffic has been affected. People going to Valparai town have to go around for about 2 km as they cannot go through the gate. Similarly, trees fell in various places and traffic was affected. Trees have fallen on several places on the Valparai-Pollachi main road and the highway department has been removing them from time to time and it still is continuing to rain in Valparai
