Coimbatore: Around 8 districts in Tamil Nadu are receiving heavy rains due to the storm that has formed in the Arabian Sea. The normalcy of the public has been affected due to heavy rains since last night, especially in the Coimbatore and Nilgiris districts which are the adjoining districts of Kerala.
Areas including Pollachi, Valparai and Azhiyar along the Western Ghats have been receiving heavy rains since last night. About 7 huts were damaged in the strong winds that blew at midnightin the Chinnarpathi hill station inhabited by 34 tribal families near Azhiyar.
Since it was night time the people in that hut took refuge in the rocks without knowing the way.

After receiving the information, the forest department officials went there and disposed of the damaged huts and arranged a wedding hall in the area where the public could safely stay.

In addition to this, the Forest and Revenue Department officials said that work is underway to set up temporary shelters near the hill stations in the Pollachi Forest Reserve.
