The Nilgiris district is expected to receive heavy rainfall tomorrow and disaster relief teams are on high alert.
The Nilgiris: Due to the heavy rains in The Nilgiris district, trees can be seen falling randomly on the roads. This is witnessed more commonly on the Coonoor - Kotagiri and the fallen trees have caused traffic damage.
As a prevention method, a team of National Disaster Rescue Department officials from Arakkonam arrived in the Nilgiris district under the orders of Senior Commander Rekha Nambiar.
A total of 44 members troop headed by Commander Ganesh Prasad arrived in The Nilgiris District.
Areas in the Nilgiris district including Ooty, Coonoor, Kotagiri and Gudalur are divided into 283 areas during the time of disaster and around 456 special places have been set-up for the public to be safe during landslides and natural disasters.
