Coimbatore: The picture of Adiyogi statue of Isha Foundation was kept as an icon of Coimbatore at the city's government website.
CPI(M) leader and Madurai MP Su Venkatesan condemned the usage of Adiyogi image and urged Coimbatore District Collector Nagarajan to immediately change the pictures from Coimbatore District's website which hadAdiyogi pictures.
Madurai MP Su Venkatesh also questioned why the pictures Isha YogaSadhguru, who upholds RSS ideology was kept at the district website rather than some other great landmarks including Scientist GD Naidu, 150 year old Government Hospital, Coimbatore Agriculture University and Forest College which are also present in the district.
Further, Coimbatore MP PR Natrajan said that this act was an insult to the people of Coimbatore.
Not long after the incident was condemned, the picture was taken down from the website.
Madurai MP Su Venkatesan in his Facebook post said that, "I urged the Coimbatore District Collector to remove Jaggi Vasudev's Adiyogi pictures from the website and it has been changed now. I thank the District Collector for this." He said.
Earlier, Madurai MP Su Venkatesan condemned the Airports Authority of India who had Adiyogi statue of Isha Foundation as a symbol of Tamil Nadu in the document.
This was later removed and was replaced with the picture of the World Famous Madurai Meenakshi Amman Temple's South Tower.
