Coimbatore: Temporary check posts have been set up across Coimbatore by traffic police officials in an effort to control public movement during the imposed curfew period. With Covid-19 cases increasing rapidly in Coimbatore, vehicles are being subjected to strict scrutiny.
Although the spread of Covid-19 in Coimbatore is high, public are seen travelling in large numbers on the main roads in Coimbatore district. The number of Covid-19 cases has not declined in most of the districts even after the Government imposed a complete curfew.
In this context, the Coimbatore Police Commissioner has ordered police officials to conduct intense vehicle searches.
Upon receiving the order, the checks began from Friday morning. Coimbatore Deputy Commissioner, Stalin said that "Over 50 checkposts have been erected across Coimbatore district with more than 1500 cops on guard duty. It is the responsibility of the public to act diligently and be aware of the current situation of the global pandemic. Only then Covid-19 will come to an end," he emphasised.
Social activists have requested the Government to take immediate action to swiftly defeat the Covid-19 wave that has hit the public hard.
