Coimbatore Contractors Welfare Association donates Rs. 10 lakhs to Chief Minister's Public Relief Fund to combat Covid-19


Coimbatore: The newly-elected Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M K Stalin had requested public and private organisations to donate generously to the Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund (CMPRF) on Tuesday, in a bid to support the TN Government's efforts to contain the spread of Covid -19.

With the common man, especially the poor unable to cope with the second wave of Covid-19, donations have been pouring in from both public and private organisations, including the film fraternity toward CMPRF. On behalf of the Coimbatore Contractors Welfare Association (CCCA) Udayakumar and Treasurer Ammasayappan presented a cheque of Rs. 10 lakhs for the CMPRF to Minister Sakkarapani and Forest Minister Ramachandran who were part of a consultative meeting in Coimbatore,

A relief grant of Rs. 10 lakhs was also provided on behalf of the CCCA during the first wave of Covid-19, last year. On behalf of the Contractors' Association, financial assistance will be provided to people affected by Covid19 as well as assistance to patients at Government Hospitals and ESI Hospitals, to provide free masks and sanitizers to the poor and needy and to assist in obtaining Remdesivir vials.

Coimbatore Corporation employs more than 1300 workers in various projects including Smart City, flyovers and drinking water projects. In many places, workers have been labouring day and night, during the complete lockdown. The Contractors' Union has urged ministers to quicken Covid vaccination for workers owing to the fast-spreading nature of the second wave of Covid-19.
