Coimbatore: Federation of Coimbatore Industrial Associations (FOCIA) has urged the state government to provide vaccination for workers as a priority.
A petition was submitted to Coimbatore District Collector Nagarajan on behalf of the federation.
Organization Co-ordinator James later told reporters, "In the current predicament, all the small businesses that have a current account need to find a way to get a loan through some scheme.
For the next one year, interest rebates and deferrals should be given to small businesses.
Many small factories in Coimbatore operate in rented premises. For small businesses, workplaces should be set up immediately in all four directions in Coimbatore.
Vaccination should be a priority for all workers in small and medium enterprises.
Treatment for diseases other than Covid-19 is currently largely neglected. The government should identify and declare small hospitals so that workers can receive treatment for other ailments. For other treatments, a monitoring committee should be set up, which should include Industrial Organizations.
We want the government to reduce our burden to some extent by waiving 50% of the electricity bills of Micro and Small Enterprises for a period of at least one year.
At present the Government of Tamil Nadu is supplying essential items and some other industries to function during the curfew. We request the government to allow businesses and shops that supply the raw materials needed for this industry to operate for a few hours.
These demands have been brought to the notice of the Central and State Governments. We humbly ask you to help small businesses."
