Manigandan (47) from Sulur in Coimbatore was a part-time reporter at the Maalaimalar daily (Dailythanthi Group). He has a younger brother Santosh. Manigandan's father who was a comedian passed away 2 years ago. He also lost his mother 7 years ago over health issues.
With only the siblings living together, Santhosh runs a fancy store. Meanwhile, Manigandan had fever and found it hard to breathe 4 days ago. Due to this he was admitted in a bed with oxygen supply at the Coimbatore Government Hospital by his office members after testing positive for Covid-19.
In this context, Manigandan's brother Santosh tried contacting him via his mobile phone but Manigandan was not reachable.
Santosh immediately informed Manigandan's colleagues who visited the Government Hospital to find Manigandan dead around 6pm yesterday. This news spread like an uncontrollable fire among all journalists and reporters in Coimbatore.
