Pollachi Municipal Girls' High School converted into a 150-bed Coronavirus Special Ward
Coimbatore: A special ward with 150 beds has been set up at the Municipal Girls' High School in Pollachi for Covid-19 patients.
With the second wave sweeping across Pollachi and surrounding villages, the number of people affected by Covid-19 is also increasing daily. Patients are being treated at the Government Hospital and the Government Primary Health Center. In Pollachi taluk, an average of 60 people per day have been affected by Covid-19.
In the first phase, a separate treatment ward with a capacity of about 500 beds was set up at a private engineering college in Palladam Road for the patients. Steps were also taken to turn Kottur Road Municipal High School into a Coronavirus Special Ward. Rooms were prepared and 150 bed facilities were set up on Tuesday. This special ward is being further monitored by health and municipal authorities. Officials state that those who have tested positive for Covid-19 will be kept in isolation at the special ward.
