Due to the exemption given to textile industries, a situation has arisen where 100 to 1000 people work at the same place.
Tirupur: At the All Trade Unions consultative committee meeting that took place in Tirupur on Tuesday, a resolution was passed to revoke the relaxation given to textile companies in Tirupur urging to implement a complete curfew.
During the meeting in Tirupur, resolutions were made and a letter was sent to the District Collector and Chief Minister. In their petition, the All Trade Unions'members said, "In order to tackle and control the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic situation, the Tamil Nadu Government on its behalf announced a complete curfew from May 10 to 24.
Meanwhile an exclusion was given to export textile industries in Tirupur to operate with 50 percent employees. Because of this, most textile manufacturing industries are still under operation.
A situation has arisen now where 100 to 1000 people work at the same place. Since this increases the chances for employees to contract the Covid-19 virus, the exemption given to textile manufacturing industries should be revoked and a complete lockdown must be imposed with wages given to the workers," demanded the All Trade Unions' members.
Along with this, they also demanded for necessary amenities to be arranged at the ESI Hospitals for various treatments.
