Flower vendors hit hard by restrictions on auspicious events; Traders in Pollachi request Government to provide relief.
Coimbatore: A complete lockdown has been imposed in Tamil Nadu from May 10 to May 24, due to the threat of Covid-19 which looms large across the State.
For the second day in a row in the Pollachi area, shops selling essential items such as groceries and vegetables were open today. Business was sluggish since the public did not venture out due to Covid-19 infections being prevalent. Roadside fruit vendors as well as flower vendors have been hardest hit.
The complete lockdown implemented last year has hit flower traders who have been without business for two years now, and are in huge debts. At present their livelihoods have been severely affected as Government restrictions have been imposed on places of worship and auspicious events in Tamil Nadu. Pollachi traders have demanded that the Government provide them with adequate relief to help them recover from their loss.
