Shops selling essential items allowed to remain open in Coimbatore and Pollachi in adherence to Covid-19 safety protocol


Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu Government has imposed a complete lockdown from Monday till May 24 to curb the spread of the second wave of Covid-19. But the Government has granted permission to allow opening of essential goods shops from 6 am to 12 noon.

Pollachi urban areas are witnessing a complete lockdown too with only shops selling essential items like groceries, fruits, vegetables and medicines being allowed to remain open. Roadside essential goods shops are also open as long as they operate in compliance with Covid-19 safety guidelines.



Markets wear a deserted look due to absence of buyers, and businesses are reported to be sorely affected.
