Coimbatore: Amidst the demand for Remdesivir, an injectable anti-viral drug used for Covid-19 patients, caretakers of COVID-19 patients in Coimbatore district have been issued tokens to buy the drug, after waiting for a long time in the queue at Coimbatore Medical College on Sunday.
The Coimbatore Medical College, in a major relief to Covid-19 patients who are advised to take Remdesivir drug by the doctors, on Saturday opened a sales counter of the drug to the caregivers to get easily. The hospital management had set up the counter on Saturday and sold close to 440 vials, according to the source.
However, to sell the remaining 60 vials, the management on Saturday provided tokens to the public gathered waiting for their turns.
While few got their tokens today, the remaining people were seen dismayed over not getting it and sent back.
“Those who have got the tokens today shall buy the remdesivir drug from the CMC tomorrow” said an official source.
