The summer survey of wild animals for this year has begun today and will span over 6 days totally.

Anamalai Tiger Reserve is located on the Western Ghats near Pollachi, Coimbatore. Here the summer survey of wild animals is undertaken in the month of May every year.
The summer survey of wild animals for this year has begun today and will span over 6 days totally.
This summer survey of wild animals is taking place in the 4 forest zones of Pollachi, Valparai, Manampalli and Ulandi under the Anamalai Tiger Reserve.
More than 130 forest personnel are involved in the survey work along the 62 straight lines set up in the four wildlife sanctuaries.
During the survey, Officials travel at least five kilometers into the forest and survey carnivorous and herbivores as well as wildlife remains and footprints of various animals.
Similarly for the next 3 days, Officials will travel in 62 linear paths and note down the types of food, habitats etc required by the wildlife.
Today, the forest department officials went to the forest area in Navamalai under the Pollachi Forest Reserve and were engaged in the wildlife survey work. During the survey leopard's footprints and scratches on the trees were then recorded in the forest.
The report of the records of the 6-day survey will be sent to the Chief Forest Officer." Said the forest department officials.
