Works to lay pipes for 24 hour drinking water line intensified in Coimbatore
Coimbatore: Drinking water pipes are being installed near the Coimbatore Collector's Office in connection with a 24-hour drinking water project.
A 24 hours drinking water project is being implemented on behalf of the Coimbatore Corporation and giant drinking water pipes are being installed at important places in the city.

The work of laying giant pipes from near the Thandu Mariamman temple in Coimbatore to the Coimbatore Government Hospital through the Collector's Office for a distance of 850 meters has been going on since yesterday.
A corporation official said, "Coimbatore Collector's Office, the railway station area is always busy with traffic. Traffic is light at this time of year as shops are only allowed to open until 12 noon. Utilising this period, new drinking water pipes with a diameter of 800 mm are installed. In addition, empty pipes are being installed to facilitate the carrying of cable wires for future needs. This way there is no need to dig the road again after the road has been relaid. We are taking steps to complete these tasks quickly."
