Kinathukadavu vegetable market deserted due to coronavirus restrictions
Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu government had ordered the closure of shops by 12 noon as the second wave of coronavirus was spreading in Tamil Nadu. As a result, all shops in Kinathukkadavu area of Coimbatore district were closed for the 2nd day at 12 noon in Kinathukkadavu vegetable market.
The Kinathukadavu vegetable market, which has always been bustling, has been deserted for the past two days due to low attendance by traders and farmers. Everyday farmers in the vicinity of Kinathukkadavu used to auction the harvested fruits and vegetables at the Kinathukkadavu market. For the past two days, farmers have been avoiding bringing vegetables to market due to coronavirus measures and unavailability of adequate prices.
The Kinathukadavu market was deserted today as the number of traders from Coimbatore, Tirupur and Palakkad in Kerala also did not turn up. Farmers were worried as there were no traders to bid even though a few farmers brought their produce. It is being said among traders and farmers that if the same situation persists, the Kinathukadavu market will have to be closed till the end of the coronavirus pandemic.
